22 Gluten Free Afternoon Teas In The UK

This blog was featured in

Afternoon teas are growing more and more popular and we certainly don't want to miss out just because of Coeliac or a gluten intolerance! There are SO many places in the UK who can do a cracking gluten free afternoon tea, we actually asked on our Facebook Page where people had had the best afternoon tea so we could compile a list of some places for you guys!

An afternoon tea doesn't have to be a posh afternoon thing either, we made our own at home, made almost entirely out of packet mixes! For some amazing bread we used Bakels bread mix which is some of the best bread we have ever had, gluten free cake packet mixes are readily available in supermarkets- this one mix make a lot so we actually made chocolate topped cupcakes and a loaf cake out of it. Sweetpea Pantry brownie mixed made some excellent chocolatey brownies to go along side the sponges.

The only thing we did make from scratch was the scones. It is possible to make an afternoon tea entirely from gluten free packet mixes, and out of four packet mixes you can easy make 3 or 4 afternoon teas.

Alternatively you can make it entirely yourself too, why not try our scone recipe, redcurrant chocolate cupcakes, swiss roll and bread recipes! Theres no reason you need to be a great cook to make any of it, some simple recipes can make one hell of an afternoon tea!

However, afterall an afternoon tea is something a little bit special so it's worth treating yourself to one every so often, here are just a few places that do afternoon teas gluten free in the UK, there are lots of places listed in our where to eat guide, too many of which do afternoon teas!

There is a great place in Leeds for GF teas my partner and I go regularly. It's called the Vintage Tea Rooms in the Grand Arcade next to the Grand Theatre. All the cakes and sandwiches are freshly made and the price is good at around £12 per person. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Leeds.
