Gluten free at The Kings Head Inn in Thirlmere

Gluten free options marked on the menu for evening, but unfortunately no dessert options. Staff helpful and friendly. Beware if staying B&B there is no mention of gluten free breakfast and toast is done in a shared toaster so not coeliac safe.

Joy Healey

As a newly diagnosed Celiac this was the first outing staying in pub accommodation with a meal. I contacted the establishment before arrival to check if they could cater for me and the reply was absolutely a yes! We were met with a great welcome with nothing too much trouble. There’s about 4 Gluten free options on the main menu. We opted for the lamb shank which was lovely. I didn’t have the pudding from the sweet menu as there wasn’t any with the GF symbol. Breakfast also didn’t mention GF was available however I Was allowed to take my own GF cereal with me with their permission. I was offered GF toast but found out it’s toasted in the same toaster as normal bread when I asked. The manager was really helpful and I’m sure they could of rustled something up for me. As a newbie celiac I wasn’t brave enough to ask. I’d definitely would stay again.
