Recently discovered that this chippy still does gluten free fish and chips since changing hands a few years ago.. We've visited twice and had excellent food and service. Opening hours are limited, only Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but they always do GF fish and chips when they're open. Here's the review that I left for the Green Island Chippy on Google: -
Wonderful for proper gluten free free fish and chips!
Chippies that cater safely for Coeliacs are rare so I'm delighted to have found Green Island Chippy where they have separate fryers and do GF fish and chips whenever they are open. The lady who served us was very knowledgeable and reassuring and the staff took great care to keep the GF meal separate from my husband's normal fish. The chips are all GF, being cooked separately from the fish.
We both thought that our food was excellent - the chips were good and golden and the fish (both GF and normal) was lovely, white and flaky with light and crispy golden batter. I'm getting hungry thinking about it again! The mushy peas were also really good - nice and thick and a natural shade of green, not the lurid turquoise we'd encountered in a chippy away from home!
We travelled from Sandbach but it was well worth the return journey and I can't wait to go back!
Thank you catering so well for Coeliacs... and normal people! 😊

This is my go to as being local to Congleton. They will always put the fryer on for you just have to wait a few minutes and really lovely people who run it
