The Pump Rooms

Absolutely sensational, one of the best afternoon teas, not the cheapest but also not the worst for a special afternoon tea. I pre-booked online and it asked if needed gluten free, dairy free etc so I stated both of us were gluten free and it also asks if it is for any special occasion and you can tick if it is a special birthday, anniversary etc. When we arrived they doubled checked it was two gluten free afternoon teas and showed us to our table, band playing over in the corner, chandelier above, very posh! We were served tea and asked if we wanted water (here is the only place you can get water from the original Bath spring and it tastes so much different, they used to charge for it but it is now given out complementary). The afternoon tea soon came out and it was loaded with lovely little open sandwiches, pastries and scones. Being ever the pessimism I was comparing to the next table who were looking at me a little strange, it looked to good to be gluten free! But they definitely had finger sandwiches when ours were open and the scones looked different and those pastries cases, close but definitely a different colour. Very unusual to get pastries gluten free! The mini brownie was absolutely to die for on it too! Everything on the afternoon tea was gorgeous and you could of course take home anything you couldn't eat. Unbeknownst to me, when you put in it is for a birthday the band play happy birthday and the whole restaurant sings and the waitress brought out a little cupcake too. Nothing like causing unknown embarrassment, but a lovely little touch to make it special. Overall fantastic, from the food to the atmosphere to the staff, all amazing and worth every penny
