Being right next to a harbour it's only right to have fish and chips at least once. I'd already heard that this particular chippy offered gluten free, so we headed straight for there.

Stood outside the shop, I could clearly see a sign in the takeaway saying gluten free was available, but only in the restaurant. This could be a drawback, it would be nice to have takeaway available, when the weather is nice it would be ideal to sit on the harbour side to eat fish and chips.

As it was, we were planning on eating in anyway. After checking the menu, which stated that cod and chips could be gluten free, we placed an order for 3 normal fish and chips and 1 gluten free, the waiter clearly wrote on the paper one was to be gluten free and as they were making it we heard it shouted across the kitchen, both where it was being prepared and when it was done.

When the food arrived my chips were hotter than the others, definitely freshly cooked then! Mine was brought out by a different person than the others too, whether that was coincidence or cross contamination prevention I don't know.

The batter was nice and crispy and it was impossible to tell the difference between this batter and the normal, except when you looked at it, it was clear when compared to the others that mine was paler in colour, but the taste was definitely not compromised.

All in all, it was a nice chip shop, I will definitely be going there again, the staff were pleasant and understanding, and even better the GF options were no differently priced unlike some other places who like to charge extra for the luxury of avoiding stomach problems!

I have enjoyed gluten free fish and chips many times here and agree you cannot tell the difference by taste only on color. Although I have been able to get take away recently , so they must allow this now.
